Montclair has an excellent elementary school system. As one of the nation's oldest magnet systems -- and this year named one of the top 6 magnet districts in the nation by the U.S. Department of Education -- the Montclair Public School district allows parents to choose the school that's best suited to their child's individual talents and needs. But whether the school's magnet theme is science and technology, the arts, global studies or gifted and talented learning, all 11 of Montclair's public schools meet and exceed New Jersey core content standards in general education.
